Membership ApplicationFor an organisation to become a member of the Council, it should, in accordance with section 7 of the BNSC Act, prove that it is the sole controller/overseer/representative of a particular sporting discipline throughout the country. Otherwise it should be proven to be representing the interests of the majority of individuals/clubs and/or associations taking part in that sport. The procedure of applying for membership starts with a letter to the Executive Director, from the organisation, introducing itself and indicating its wish to be considered for Council membership. Included with the letter should be Minutes of the meeting of the organisation, giving its Executive Committee a mandate to apply for affiliation to the Council; a list of the organisation’s Executive Committee members, with full secretariat contact details; a copy of the Certificate of Registration from the Registrar of Societies; the organisation’s Constitution; and an application fee as determined from time to time (standing at P500.00 as at the end of 2005). Once all these have been submitted, the application shall be tabled before the BNSC Executive Committee, who may then grant the organisation provisional membership. Once this has been granted, the application shall then be forwarded to the general membership for consideration for a full membership status. The organisation is normally invited to the general meeting where their application is going to be considered so that they could respond to whatever queries that may arise. Once the organisation is confirmed as a Council affiliate, it is expected to pay an annual subscription fee as determined from time to time (standing at P1 500.00 as at the end of 2005) for the year in which the full membership is granted. Subsequent to that, the affiliate would be expected to pay the annual subscriptions by 31st January of every year, in accordance with the BNSC Act. |
