Car Accident-Sedie Junior Secondary School Students

The Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) received with shock the sad news of the fatal car accident involving students and teachers of Sedie Junior Secondary School in Maun, who were on their way back home from Gaborone after winning the Botswana Integrated Sports Association (BISA)/ Coca-Cola Soccer Schools Challenge over the weekend.  

The Council wishes to extend its condolences to the family of the deceased, the Headmaster of Sedie Junior Secondary School and his Staff and Students, BISA, as well as the Botswana Football Association and football fraternity at large; all of whom should draw comfort from the fact that the deceased departed this world as champions.  The Council also wishes all those who sustained injuries from the accident a speedy recovery and a quick return to normal life.

May their souls rest in peace.

In the meantime, the Council wishes to join the relevant authorities and the Nation at large in calling for a sale use of roads throughout the country.  As campaign for the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS intensifies, Batswana should not turn a blind eye on the need for an intensified campaign to halt the many fatal road accidents that continue to deprive this country of its citizens and future leaders.  The Law should not spare any road users who violate traffic regulations and who display a potential to be a danger to other road users.
