TOKYO 2020 #CHOPPIES INCENTIVE LAUNCH

As Team Botswana will be heading to Tokyo for the 2020 Olympics, Choppies Botswana has pledged incentives to athletes who will reach the finals and make podium finish. According to the Choppies Marketing Manager, Ms Katlego Gaborone, at the incentive launch which was held at Choppies Innovation Hub on the 29th June 2021, the Gold medalist will walk away with P1, 000, 000.00, Silver Medalist with P500, 000.00, Bronze medalist with P250, 000.00 and finalists with P25, 000.00. The launch was graced by the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Hon. Tumiso Rakgare, Botswana National Olympic Committee President, Col. Botsang Tshenyego and his board members, Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) Chief Executive Officer, Mr Tuelo Daniel Serufho, Choppies Marketing Manager, Ms Katlego Gaborone, Team Tokyo 2020 Chef De Mission, Mr Tshepo Sitale and other dignitaries.

Team Botswana is made up of the following athletes;

  • Magdeline Monyengwa (F) – Weightlifting (59kg)
  • Keamogetse Kenosi (F) – Boxing (57kg)
  • Rajab Otukile Mahommed (M) – Boxing (52kg)
  • Amantle Montsho (F) – Athletics (400m)
  • Christine Botlogetswe (F) – Athletics (400m)
  • Galefele Moroko (F) – Athletics (400m)
  • Nijel Amos (M) – Athletics (800m)
  • Isaac Makwala (M) – Athletics (200m and 400m)
  • 4 x 4 Men’s Relay Team – Athletics

The Team will be sent off in a ceremony to be held on the 6th July 2021. The games will be held from the 23rd July 2021 until the 8th August 2021. The Team is expected back home around the 10th August 2021.
