This past weekend was a great one for Botswana Sport which brought moments of lightness in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Nigel Amos brought happiness to local fans with his performance at Monaco at the Wanda Diamond League on Friday the 9th July 2020. Nigel grabbed the top sport in a World Leading Time of 1:42:91. He is currently the fastest man in the world in 800m.
The Senior Men’s National Football Team, the Zebras did not disappoint when they met Likuena of Lesotho in the ongoing COSAFA Cup 2021. The Zebras thrashed Lesotho 4-1 in a thrilling encounter which saw Botswana’s Tumisang Orebonye score a hat-trick and be crowned the Man of the Match. The thrilling encounter took place on the 10th July 2021 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
On Sunday the 13th July 2021 Isaac Makwala continued the Nation’s winning streak when he took to the 400m track at the Sotteville-lés-rouen International meeting in France. He attained position 1 with a time of 45.16 secs.
