GABORONE: Inside BW Women Sports hosted the headline sponsor launch of the 2^nd Annual Botswana Women Sports Awards scheduled to take place on the 23^rd March 2024. Delivering welcoming remarks, Inside BW Women Sports Co-Director, Ms. Kesego Kebelaele-Okie said that the awards categories will remain the same as last year – “ultimately we are aiming to use these awards as a platform and stepping stone for young athletes across different sporting codes to represent Botswana at international stages.” She concluded her remarks by thanking sponsors from the previous awards ceremony and also implored more entities to come on board and support this noble initiative.

Delivering the keynote address, the Business Development Manager at Vunani Fund Managers Mr. Obakeng Mmusinyane revealed that Vunani Fund Managers will sponsor the Annual Botswana Women Sports Awards for a period of three (3) years at the tune of P600, 000.00 and that the title name of the event will now be “Vunani Annual Botswana Women Sports Awards”. He further said, “it is my honour and privilege, to announce that after careful consideration, and with the highest value of patriotism, the Vunani Fund Managers Board found it fit to sponsor the Annual Women Sports Awards as a headline sponsor for the next 3 years. This sponsorship goes towards prize money for key categories, event management & logistics, as well as story-telling of Botswana’s journey of women sports; through the Awards and their impact”.

For her part, the 2023 Botswana Women Sports Awards Sportswoman of the Year, Ms. Lethabo Modukanele thanked the organisers for this initiative, which she said  it personally elevated her life and she’s now able to focus on Sport. 

The Annual Botswana Women Sports Awards is an initiative of Inside BW Women Sports, executed in collaboration with Women and Sports Botswana (WASBO). The awards categories include; Sportswoman of the year, Sportswoman of the year with Disability, Coach of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Administrator of the Year, Young Promising Female Athlete, Team of the Year, HeForShe Champion, Sports Journalist of the year – Print, Sports Journalist of the Year – TV, Sports Journalist of the Year – Radio, Photographer of the Year, and CEO’s awards; Courage Award, CEO’s Special Award 1, CEO’s Special Award 2, Champion for Equity Award. The awards ceremony will be held at a venue to be confirmed soon.
